When shopping around for a moped or scooter, you will notice that there are a couple of different types to choose from. In case you didn’t know the difference (or you do know the difference, here’s a refresher for you)…a gas moped gets it’s power from gas or petrol (whatever you like to call it) and not from electricity. A gas moped is great for scooting around town, scooting yourself to work, or scooting to the park on your day off less expensively. Read on for some advice on how to choose the right gas powered mped for you….

1. Set a budget. Gas mopeds/scooters range in different prices depending on whether or not they are new or used. They could cost you a couple hundred bucks to several thousand bucks. So if your budget is large or small, there is a moped out there for you.

2. Don’t buy cheap mopeds! A cheap moped can be broken or very, very substandard. Always, Always, research the make, model, and the manufacturer for any defects that particular model can be known to have before buying the moped.

3. Shop for bargains. Some buy a moped because it’s cheap, others buy a moped because of the specific brand or model. If you do some homework you can find the best possible prices.

4. Know your state’s laws! Different states have different laws regarding mopeds like insurance and licenses. Some states have a minimum speed (make sure your moped can go that fast), require a motorcycle (or scooter license) license, have helmet laws….it can go on (you know state mumbo jumbo). Contact your local DMV and find out what the laws are before buying your moped..ignorance is no excuse.

Gas mopeds are an alternative to your gas guzzling car/SUV. With a little good ole fashioned research (and this website) you will be able to find the best deals and save yourself some hard earned money.
